A businessman accused of murdering his wife has appeared in court.
Gurpreet Singh, 42, is charged with the killing of Sarbjit Kaur, whose body was found nearly three months ago.
The 38-year-old was discovered unconscious by family at her detached house in Rookery Lane, Penn, Wolverhampton, on February 16.
A post-mortem examination determined she died from asphyxiation.
Singh appeared for a brief hearing at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday charged with murder, West Midlands Police said.
Sarbjit Kaur, 38, died from asphyxiation, a post-mortem discovered. She was discovered unconscious by family at the detached house in Rookery Lane, Penn, Wolverhampton, on February 16.
Mrs Kaur was reportedly last seen by her husband on the morning of February 16 when he left for work at Dhanda Properties UK Ltd, where he is a company director.
After her body was found, neighbours paid tribute to Mrs Kaur who they described as ‘generous.’
They also told how the family, who lived in a large four-bedroom gated home, drove around in a flashy Jaguar and Mercedes.
West Midlands Police confirmed that her partner, Gurpreet Singh, had been charged with the killing.
The 42-year-old from Coalway Avenue in Penn, Wolverhampton, will appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, the force said. He was remanded in custody and will appear at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday.
